Wasp-trap bottle after model from Sweden/Finland, 18th c..
Fill the bottom of the bottle from underneath with a sugary solution (juice, honey water, syrup, or similar). The wasps and flies are attracted to the trap by the scent. Once inside, they are unable to find their way out and eventually drown.
