Woman figurine
The “Lady from Öja” is a figure from the Viking Age, originally 52 mm long and made of copper alloy. The figure, which was acquired by the Swedish History Museum in 1863, exudes a mild and thoughtful expression, with arms wrapped around her stomach, suggesting that she is pregnant. With the accompanying base, the figure stands at approximately 7 cm in height. On the figure’s back, there is a shape resembling a belt, which may indicate that she is wearing a long dress with a belt, or possibly a skirt and top, with the visible edge resembling the hem of a jacket.
