Odin from Lindby
Figure depicting the Viking god Odin (also known as Odin from Lindby). It is a stray find from a gravel pit in Lindby, Svenstorp parish, Skåne. The figure is approximately 10 cm tall. Storage bag included.
The figure features upturned mustaches, a pointed beard, and a conical headpiece, possibly a helmet. He wears a knee-length coat with a belt. His right arm is bent toward the waist, while the left arm is missing. Odin is a prominent god in Germanic mythology, from Roman times to the Viking Age. He was the god of wisdom and is said to have sacrificed one of his eyes in exchange for knowledge. His deeper insight, including the knowledge of runes, was gained by transcending the boundary of death.
